So everything started to be more exact in Bogota, Colombia, when Julian Torres sent a message to Santiago Aparicio, one of the Co-Founders of Ontop. They could never imagine that a text message would turn into such big proportions. This shows us how six years ago, technology was already part of communication and making borders invisible.

After Santiago and Julian made great research on the market, they realized they needed to break boundaries and be bold. Its founders were also the creators of the startup Fitpal. Jaime Avella, Gentemóvil's founder, is the third founder of Ontop.
Having created and operated these two companies made the three entrepreneurs realize the need to solve payments and manage remote teams of increasingly international work teams.

Celebrating that the Ontop crew finally bought a remote setup. With everything a remote worker needs and more. Remember: working remotely doesn't mean that you are not productive or have deadlines. After that, they applied to Y Combinator, did some prayers, and crossed their fingers to be selected for an interview. And you know what? They did it. After a lot of effort, Ontop’s Founders got the green light for the investment of Y Combinator. HURAAAY!
Challenges Onboard
To make sure the team had their skills on point, they continued to learn about moving money around the globe. They even tried Rappi Pay, by the way. After learning a lot, they started a podcast to get their message spread.
Deserved Success
The team met up through virtual meetings with big names like the founder of Dropbox and Airbnb when they started YC. Also got featured in Forbes Magazine in 2021 as one of the most promising successful businesses.

They raised 20 million dollars; Ontop is now headquartered in Miami and has more than 700 active clients and almost 500 workers.
